Ranchstay

Experience the vast openness of the countryside and become part of a local farming family with our

Ranchstay Program

If you like the country life, tractors, horses, cattle and fresh air, and want to experience the great wide open, then the Ranchstay Program is perfect for you! Ranchstay is for the cowboy/cowgirl at heart looking to spend some time on a ranch or farm away from all the bright lights and big cities.

The Ranchstay Program gives you the chance to witness firsthand the true rugged farming lifestyle. Become a part of the family quickly and get involved with every part of farm life, e.g. feeding animals, riding horses, driving the tractor, operating other farm machinery or just helping with chores around the farmhouse (of course depending on the individual ranch). We work with a variety of different family-run farms such as horse farms, cattle ranches, agricultural farms or mixed farms that you can choose from for your Ranchstay Experience.

The program not only gives you the chance to learn about farming but more importantly gives you the chance to see farm LIFE; it is a cultural exchange program where you get a real insight into local culture, the community and the mentality of the people. The family takes you along when they visit neighbours, when they do grocery shopping or when they go to events like rodeos and community festivals. It is not an easy life and everyone is expected to pitch in with all everyday chores. So be ready for some long but rewarding days out on the farm with the family. You can definitely expect an experience of a lifetime! To get a better idea, watch how a typical day in Paula’s life on the farm looked like:

When we organize your Ranchstay, we will let you know the closest airport so you can book the flight accordingly. You may have to stay overnight in the city before taking transportation to the farm the following day. If so, INTERNeX will book the accommodation and provide a schedule for you so that you don’t have to worry about anything. You also have the opportunity to stay in a bigger city prior to your Ranchstay and book a language course, or participate in some of our activities before you head to the farm like pub nights, sightseeing, hiking, etc.

Most importantly, we are always here to support you. We act as a mediator between you and the farm, provide you with important pre-arrival info but will also follow-up with you after your first days at the ranch. We help with any questions or concerns along the way and for emergencies you always have the opportunity to call our 24-hour emergency number.

Program Includes:
