Practicum Programs give you the chance to get real-world, hands-on specialized experience in almost any industry. The quality and level of your placement will depend on your experience, education, area of placement, time of year and duration of your placement. Placements involve project work and / or participating in day-to-day operations to see how a local organization functions. Practicums are designed not only with your specific goals and interests in mind but also in accordance with any requirements your university or faculty may have. Practicums are the best possible way for you to put the theory you learned in school into practice and to broaden your business network.

Full-service support to allow you to secure the best possible placement opportunity in the hospitality industry. Opportunities are primarily in resort communities or in major urban centres.
Positions are generally in customer service, restaurants, hotels or in hospitality industry support areas. Participants can expect to be paid prevailing wage rates for any positions they secure. Opportunities are based on prior experience, language, duration of your commitment and start date.
Program includes industry and country orientation, consultation, placement assistance, and interview training.

Program Requirements

  • WHAT DO I NEED TO PARTICIPATE?
  • Must be available to work for a full season or longer
  • Must be willing and able to accept back of house positions such as housekeeping or dishwashing
  • Must be physically fit
  • Must be available for a telephone/Skype interview
  • Must be between the age of 19 and 30
  • Must have at least upper Intermediate (7/10) English level
  • Must have a valid Work Permit
  • Must have travel insurance
  • Must be available to arrive in the time-frame given and commit to the company for at least a full season or longer. Once a placement is confirmed, the INTERNeX program manager will confirm the work start dates and work out the best arrival time.

family. Ranchstay is for the cowboy/cowgirl at heart looking to spend some time on a ranch or farm away from all the bright lights and big cities. Ranchstay is for people looking to learn something about the community where they are placed and farming in general. Ranchstay gives you the chance to become involved with family activities and you have the possibility to get involved with many different parts of farm life, i.e. riding horses, driving the tractor etc. (depending on what is available). The program is not only about farming; it is a cultural exchange program where you get a real insight into local culture, mentality etc. The family takes you along when they visit neighbors, when they do their grocery shopping or when they go to events like rodeos, community festivals. It is not an easy life and everyone is expected to pitch in with all normal chores.

Whats Included


  • Placement includes food and board on the ranch. Farm profile will be sent prior to arrival.

Program Requirements

  • Must be physically fit
  • Must not have any allergies or medical conditions
  • Must be willing to participate in all activities provided by the farm including cleaning, maintenance and household chores. All participants will be expected to contribute to the daily chores and activities on the farm as any other member of the household. Other activities and events occur depending on the season (e.g. harvest festivals, foaling, or rodeos).
  • Must be between the age of 20 and 28 (upon request, we may accept applicants younger than 20 or up to 30 years of age)
  • Must have at least upper intermediate (6/10) English level
  • Must have a travel insurance
  • Some types of farms require specific experience, i.e. horseback riding (horse training/breeding farms require applicants with at least 5 years riding experience; exceptions on a case by case basis
  • In some cases the participant needs to undergo a phone interview with the Ranchstay supervisor and/or the farm family

Ever wanted to Help, rescue and rehabilitate orphaned and injured animals? Take part and help provide a second chance to orphaned wildlife, they are in need for help all year round! Or would you like to help out a local first nation’s community and get evolved in their amazing culture? Then our volunteer program is perfect for you. As most volunteer locations are in remote parts of the country far away from the bigger cities this is a great opportunity for outdoors and nature lovers alike. For those who prefer to volunteer in one of the main cities like Vancouver it is possible to volunteer with pet rescue centres where you will get to take care of cats, dogs and other pets that have been rescued or found. Our Volunteer Program is by no means an’ easy holiday option’. The volunteer experience can quite exhausting at times but will definitely be very rewarding.
